Join Make Tahoe at Benko Art Gallery on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 6 pm as we present the art of Evan Jacobson.
Evan Jacobson is a ceramic artist based in South Lake Tahoe. Born and raised in Truckee, California, Evan enjoyed the seasons like most of us here by skiing and hiking, but he also found happiness whenever he created with clay. Working in clay is Evan’s piece of the "sublime pie" - blending the colors, textures, and vitality of the Lake Tahoe Basin into something that endures. "I can look at that spinning wheel of mud and know I can turn it into something unique, something that can be cherished long after I am gone. It is this dynamic that inspires me to create."Evan Jacobson creates a wide variety of ceramics - from earthenware that echoes the Tahoe terrain to ornamental glazed raku that shimmers like Lake Tahoe itself. In Evan’s work, you will see how clay is a unifying art form, used in cultures the world over and across time dating back to prehistory. Evan Jacobson’s unique fusion of styles in ceramic honors the past and brings it to the present, reminding us that no matter when or where we are, we are all one.
"Make Tahoe quantum, An Art Show (within an art show)", is a monthly curated installment at Benko Art Gallery, presented by MakeTahoe.com.
